Silas Langley is an adjunct faculty member at Fresno Pacific in history and philosophy. He graduated from Fresno Pacific in 1993 with a major in intellectual history. He then pursued a master’s degree in theological studies at Duke Divinity School and a doctorate at Fordham University (New York City) in philosophy. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on Thomas Aquinas on human life after death.
Langley is currently working on a book-length manuscript that explores five Christian views on death and resurrection and their implications for our present lives. In this session, he will explain these five views and why they matter.
Council of Senior Professionals:
The Fresno Pacific University Council of Senior Professionals was established in 2002 to recognize and encourage continuing contributions by senior university and seminary faculty. The council brings together senior scholars, artists, educators, church leaders and other professionals to pursue mutual interests in an academic community that benefits the university, seminary, church and community.
The mission of the Council of Senior Professionals is to serve as a senior resource group to the sponsoring institutions and the larger church and community, and to support each other as members, both individually and collectively, in pursuit of continuing (a) inquiry and learning, (b) research, writing and other creative work and (c) service to the university and seminary, church and world.
In weekly seminars, members, visiting professionals and others share their work and pursue topics of historical and current interest.
