Date

Location

Steinert Campus Center
1717 S. Chestnut Avenue
Fresno, CA 93702

Plumber, marathon runner, mountain rescue team member, university professor, author, priest – Dale Matson has done them all! After retiring from his FPU faculty position in the graduate school counseling program, he pursued the priesthood in the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin, where he continues to serve.

Originally hailing from the Midwest, Matson has developed a love affair with the Sierras. In this session he will take us on a power point tour of the mountains of the eastern third of Fresno County.  A preview of what he will address appeared in an article in The Fresno Bee on September 21, 2013.  He has also published a recent book titled My Favorite Fresno County CA Mountain Passes (2013).  Previous publications include Seeking the Lost: Stories of Search and Rescue (2010) and Meditations of a Plumber Priest (2011). A fuller list of published works can be found at Amazon.com.

Council of Senior Professionals

The Fresno Pacific University Council of Senior Professionals was established in 2002 to recognize and encourage continuing contributions by senior university and seminary faculty. The council brings together senior scholars, artists, educators, church leaders and other professionals to pursue mutual interests in an academic community that benefits the university, seminary, church and community.

The mission of the Council of Senior Professionals is to serve as a senior resource group to the sponsoring institutions and the larger church and community, and to support each other as members, both individually and collectively, in pursuit of continuing (a) inquiry and learning, (b) research, writing and other creative work and (c) service to the university and seminary, church and world.

In weekly seminars, members, visiting professionals and others share their work and pursue topics of historical and current interest.
